You Can Make A Difference!!
Question: What's the number one cause of feline shelter deaths?
Answer: Kitten births.
Yes, that's right! Those cute little faces grow up and, whether male or female, have the potential to bring even more potentially unwanted lives into the world. People not taking responsibility to do what they can to ensure their cats do not have litters of kittens... and their kittens have kittens and so on and so on... contributes to the never ending cycle of kitten births and cat deaths by lethal injection or worse. The Kitty Devore Rescue Network WILL NOT contribute to this vicious cycle. To date in 2012, the Kitty Devore Rescue Network has 18 sets of moms with kittens in our foster care.16 of those moms still need to be spayed. The combined total of KD kittens we have in our care comes to 72.The total number of cats we will need to have vetted, sterilized and adopted this summer is 88... so far! Total vetting cost per cat is $75.Total cost to KD: $6,600.00.Friends of Kitty Devore often urge us to do whatever we can to save the cats of Devore shelter. We often do - but rescue is not free and rescue does not end after a cat leaves the shelter.People blame the shelter for putting innocent lives to death - but it's a system we have collectively created and it exists because there IS a pet over-population problem in our country. People lament that they don't live in the area or are at their limit of pets already and so, therefore, they cannot help. But the fact is, you can make a difference!By contributing to the Kitty Devore Rescue Network's 2012 Mom and Kitten Vetting Fund, you can make a difference and minimize needless shelter deaths in the process.
